The pre-cleaning process

As well as getting excited about your fresh carpets, here’s what to think about before the cleaners arrive.

Do I need to be there for the entire cleaning?

No, you just need to be there at the beginning and the end – though (of course) you can stay for the whole thing if you want!

For the best experience, we ask that you’re present for the pre-cleaning walkthrough so we can review your preliminary estimate and confirm your final price. This is also a great chance for you to point out problem areas, so we can set clear expectations before we begin.

During the post-cleaning check, we’ll walk around with you and make sure you’re happy with the results, advise on care and maintenance, and accept secure payment in person (helping you avoid virtual terminal fees).

Should I vacuum before the carpet cleaners arrive?

Yes please! Many people don’t realize the important of removing hard soils before a wet cleaning, but getting rid of dirt, dust, and debris before pro cleaning improves the overall results.

Should I move furniture for the cleaners?

carpet cleaning san francisoOnly if you want to. We find that the carpeting beneath large furniture is well-protected from soiling and usually just needs a good vacuuming to get clean.

We typically send out just one technician who can move small items (such as chairs, coffee tables, etc.) but nothing that’s bulky or plugged in.

If you choose to move furniture before your cleaning, be sure to plan it out beforehand and don’t move it back into place until carpets are very nearly dry.

If you absolutely must move it back, your technician can leave wax paper behind that you can place the items on top of, to prevent any colors from transferring onto carpets that aren’t fully dry.

How loud is carpet cleaning?

Our machinery is fairly loud, so bear that in mind when booking your service as it will be disruptive if you are working from home or have young children who are napping or studying.

How much does carpet cleaning cost?

The cost of the service is tailored specifically to the size and condition of your space. We’ll always provide a fair, honest quote based on the information you provide – no surprises!

The quote is calculated by assessing:

How many rooms need cleaning (each room includes up to 150 square feet of 10×15)
The size of the rooms (larger rooms will be charged at the rate of an additional space)
Whether you require additional treatments for stains or pet urine

The post-cleaning process

Your carpets are looking amazing and your home feels almost new again – so now what do you do?

How long does it take for my carpet to dry?

carpet cleaning san francisoIt will typically take 4-6 hours for your carpets to dry, depending on the size of the room, how much ventilation there is, and the type of carpet.

Areas with less ventilation, such as basements, stairwells, and windowless rooms, can take longer to dry – sometimes 8- 12 hours or more.

If possible, we recommend turning on the air conditioning and opening windows, to help speed up the drying process.

How long until I can walk on my carpet?

Try not to step on your carpet until it’s dry. It’s fine if you absolutely need to walk on it to get to another area in your house, but avoid heavy activity for as long as possible.

How much should I tip the carpet cleaners?

Similar to waiting tables or cutting hair, this is a service job and our technicians try to go out of their way to provide outstanding service, every time. If you have a wonderful experience and feel that it’s appropriate to tip, 5% to 20% is always greatly appreciated.

We know that not everyone is in a position to tip, and so if you’re happy with the results and you want to shout about it, you can show your gratitude through Google reviews or by spreading the word to friends and family.

What if my stains come back after treatment?

Before cleaning, we’ll set expectations so you’ll know whether or not there’s a chance that some signs of damage or staining will remain, due to irreparable damage to fibres.

If this occurs and you weren’t expecting it, get in touch with us within 14 days so we can address your concerns.
