Vacuuming pulls off what's sitting on the surface. It doesn't reach what has worked its way into the weave and the foam underneath.
Body oil is the main one. Skin oil, sweat and lotion darken armrests, headrests and seat fronts so slowly that most people don't notice until they see a cleaned cushion next to an uncleaned one. Spills soak past the surface and wick back up as the fabric dries, which is why a stain you cleaned yourself often reappears a day later. Pet accidents settle into the cushion backing, where odor sprays cover them for a few days at most.
None of this means the furniture is finished. Most of it comes out with proper extraction.
Most of our hardest jobs started with a store-bought spot cleaner. The residue is sticky and attracts soil, so within weeks the spot is darker than the fabric around it. And water rubbed into one small area sinks into the cushion and dries outward, leaving a ring. On cotton and linen it can also leave a brown mark that's harder to remove than the original spill. We test first, use as little moisture as the fabric allows, and extract what we put in.

Wool is easy to ruin with an alkaline cleaner. Being WoolSafe approved means we're qualified to work on wool and other natural fibers.

Stains, heavily soiled areas and odor sources are treated first and given time to break down. We use PROCYON, a Green Seal certified spotter with no VOCs, and Odorcide for pet urine, which neutralizes the odor rather than masking it.
Hot-water extraction for most fabrics, a portable extractor for delicate or hard-to-reach pieces. Low moisture, thorough extraction.
If you want it, we can apply a fabric protector that helps future spills sit on the surface long enough to blot up. We'll tell you whether it's worth it on your fabric, because it isn't always.
We go over the finished piece with you, point out anything that didn't fully come out, and explain how to care for it between cleanings.
